Summary: Comprehensive Review Guide
Comment: I've been a PA for 25 years. I'm due to take my recertification exam in December of 2008. The Lange Q&A book has really helped me to prepare for the exam in a systematic way. The book is laid out in a question and answer format. The answers are the best part, as they provide complete explanations with references. The book covers everything from Dermatology to Ob/Gyn. There are also Surgical sections. I have one complaint; I've found a couple errors along the way which are more than just typos. The next edition should be edited more carefully.

Summary: TYPOS and Sometimes just plain wrong
Comment: This book is downright dangerous. There are a ridiculous amount of typos and downright errors in addition to outdated practices in the Practice test of this book. An optho referral for a simple corneal abrasion? Nitrous Oxide as a form of conscious sedation in the ED (maybe when Carter was president)? You'll answer a question and then in the answers they might give you the right explanation but the wrong letter or vice versa. Or questions with the same. There also questions that offer the same choice twice. Of the list of books I trust, this is certainly not one of them. Its one thing to have misspelled words, but to even have one error in a book like this (considering its for a Board Certification exam that to fail it makes life VERY difficult), it puts your ability to trust the information very low. Would not recommend this book.

Summary: A good review book.
Comment: I purchased the Q and A book and used it in conjunction with the larger Appleton and Lange outline review book. I found doing the same chapters in both books simultaneously gave a good review. I also purchased th AAPA review for re-cert and did the pre-test CD about two months before the test. I probably wouldn't purchase all three again. It sets you back about $200. Yes there are occassional typos but otherwise the format is clear. I did 15 minutes to 2 hours a day reviewing starting three months before my PANRE and I passed with a score of 637/700. Just get the two A and L study guides, concentrate on areas you feel weakest in and you'll do fine.

Comment: This book is very good, have a lot of sections, very good explanations in the back. The only thing i don't like is that previous edition had a cd with many questions; this book unfortunately does not come with one.

Comment: After purchasing this book, I felt much more comfortable taking the PANCE. I just received my results and I passed. This book not only gives you an idea of what the questions will look like, but also shows you hints and tips on answering the correct answer. Recommended!
