Summary: Everything's Swell! I Feel Nice!
Comment: Can we convince ourselves that everything's swell and that we feel nice? Of course! People can convince themselves of all kinds of things that are objectively untrue. If you want to go through life believing things that are objectively untrue, cognitive behavioral therapy is for you. But does pretending to have a different reaction to circumstances beyond your control actually help in the long run? Because that's what CBT is all about: pretending, repressing, sticking your finger in the dike to hold the flood back a little longer. There is absolutely no scientific proof that it works, period. (Google "limits of cognitive behavioral therapy" and "why cognitive behavior therapy doesn't work".)
CBT is nonsense. Read some Schopenhauer and get a dose of reality; you'll be better off.
