This outstanding, comprehensive review resource provides the necessary tools to prepare for the Family Nurse Practitioner certification exam, with over 1,300 multiple-choice review questions based on the actual exam content and format. Clinical chapters are organized by body system, and are subdivided into three sections: Physical Exam and Diagnostic Tests; Disorders; and Pharmacology. Answers and rationales are provided at the end of each chapter. Other chapters include test questions that focus on growth and development, general health supervision and maintenance, and professional competencies inherent in the role of the ANP. A new CD-ROM contains all of the questions from the book to generate an unlimited number of 175-question sample exams designed to match the length and question distribution of the actual FNP certification exams.

Summary: Passed AANP in 98% with this book
Comment: I used the CD with this book to prepare for the boards. I don't know if the book has been revised since some of the reviewers noticing errors, but I didn't find any. I used the CD the most to prepare for the AANP FNP test, and also listened to Margaret Fitzgerald CDs. The test questions were extremely helpful as after you take the test you can see the answers and justifications. Some of the questions on the test seemed very similar. It also gets you into the mode of taking a test on the computer, which if you haven't been practicing can take some adjustment. You also can see how long it takes you to complete the test questions if speed is a concern for you. I scored in the 98% for my test (in June, 2008) so I think the cost of the book and CD was well worth it!

Comment: I wish I would had discovered this book earlier. Family nurse practitioner certification review book is helping me summarize and study for my current acute care program. It has excellent review of subjects I am presently taking. It goes along great with lectures given in class and an excellent review and summary of many subjects. I highly recommend this book for anyone in an NP program. It also helps you review questions that will probably be similiar in the certification test.

Comment: Great study book for class exams. Some of the questions on class exams come from this book and help you prepare for the certification. The CD is great too.

Summary: Just passed my ANCC for FNP
Comment: I just passed my ANCC today and here are some books I wish I had in school. The following helped me to pass the ANCC because they are most like the test. First, Margaret Fitzgerald's book Nurse Practitioner Certification Examination and Practice Preparation is a great must have book for school and test prep. If you can, take her live seminar or get the CDs. Next Leik's book Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Intensive Review:Fast Facts and Practice Questions, great book, good to synthesize all of the Fitzgerald info. The Hollier/Wirfs book: Certification Prep Exams Practice Test s and Questions with Rationales 4th ed is a great prep for questions, don't bother buying the review book by Hollier, it is too basic. Next, make SURE you buy the Family Nurse Practitioner Certification Review by Zerwekh and Claborn. This is the only review book I could find that has a CD rom . The CD is almost like the actual test and some of the questions are very similar. If you start off by buying these four books you will be in good shape. Good luck on the exam!
