The Third Edition of this popular quick reference features 653 brand-new illustrations and state-of-the-art protocols for brain, spine, and head and neck imaging examinations. The first part presents up-to-date protocols for CT, MRI, myelography, and neuroangiography and guidelines on drugs used in neuroimaging. The second part presents images of all common pathologic entities, along with succinct, bulleted "key facts" about radiologic diagnosis. This edition has new chapters on the brachial plexus, degenerative and iatrogenic brain disorders, and metabolic brain disorders. New entities have been added to many chapters, particularly those on brain trauma, stroke, infections and inflammations, and the orbits.

Summary: Excellent basic text
Comment: This book is unique in providing a basic overview of all areas of neuroradiology. The book also provides important guidelines for the performance of a number of procedures. For a single text covering the fundamentals of neuroradiology, appropriate for medical students, residents, fellows, and for board review, Castillo's "Neuroradiology Companion" is superb.

Comment: This is one of the better of the series. Provides a good coverage of major topics without all of the confusion of the Requisites Neuroradiology, which I don't personally like.

Summary: Great introductory read
Comment: This is a very readable book on neuroimaging. Nicely divided into sections eg- trauma, tumor, head and neck, etc. Good quality images. Short bulleted text with some key facts on the opposite page makes for a quick read. Would be very good for a junior resident to go through early in their training to get acquainted with some of the more common diseases. I think it is unlikely that one would be presented with a case at the oral radiology boards that is not found in this text. Still, this is not a substitute for reading a traditional neuroimaging text such as the Mosby Handbook series or the Requistites series sometime during residency.

Summary: Just like in the in-service exam!
Comment: This is a short, inexpensive (especailly for neuroradiology) book that I found quite useful. The images are remarkably similar to the ones on the Neurology RITE. And, there is a short section on key facts in bullet form for each common neurological disease described. Additionally, the book even has info on imaging protocols and guidelines. No MR spect, but is otherwise pretty good. Has nearly 550 images!

Comment: This book has helped me with my knowledge of neuroradiology. i like this book very much and the best part of it all are the pictures, which are very clear. i am aldo very happy to report that the author is my uncle.
