Comment: This book is written by an American author Pamela Hill; a foremost authority in medical aesthetics who was a former nurse. As such; the emphasis of this book is thoroughly grounded in medical aesthetics. An extensive coverage of the fundamentals of skin care affords the therapist an understanding of how the prior application of cosmetics can affect the application of Microdermabrasion. All the main anti-ageing and `cosmeceutical' ingredients are covered in depth. An extensive chapter also covers the indications and contraindications of Microdermabrasion treatments. Treatment procedures are covered expansively with a prominence placed upon identifying safe treatment protocols and practices. As a lecturer in Beauty Therapy it is hoped that this book will aid in standardising Microdermabrasion treatments in the U.K. as this is a treatment that still has many treatment variables. During the study of my BA (Hons) Degree in Beauty Therapy Management course this book was extremely useful for my dissertation research too; purely because it provided such a comprehensive account of this popular salon treatment.
