Summary: Hope the next edition discusses raspberry leaf for N/V in pregnancy
Comment: Great book overall.
I was disappointed that the section on nausea/vomiting during pregnancy seemed skimpy. The safety of medical treatments during pregnancy is obviously critical, and of great concern to patients. Severe nausea/vomiting takes a terrible toll on the quality of life. Many women consider the nausea of pregnancy to be far worse than the pain of childbirth. (I only know one woman who decided not to have more children because of a painful labor and delivery, but I know many whom nausea deterred from having a second child.)
Red raspberry leaf has been heavily hyped and marketed for more than a decade, both for "morning sickness" and enhancing labor. I haven't found much data on its use for morning sickness. If data are absent, I wish the author would simply state that. It's hard to understand why the author would fail to acknowledge a frequently used, widely advertised product that is intended for use when a fetus is most vulnerable.
I also wish there were more information on the safety of chamomile and peppermint, which some studies have questioned.
If the author would flesh out the section on the nausea/vomiting of pregnancy, this book would be even better.

Summary: Best Textbook in Integrative Medicine and Complementary/Alternative Medicine
Comment: This is one of my favorite books. It is an evidence based textbook that provides useful and easy to acess information regarding both conventional and alternative medical treatments. There are also handouts that are great for patients to read.

Summary: The best out there, but room to grow
Comment: This book is the reference source in the field, but one finds that authors tend to stay in the conservative realm and only present/discuss the topics that are "safe." I have patients on therapies that are not even mentioned in this book, although they may actually be helpful.

Comment: A must-read book for every physician. Integrative medicine does not deny allopatic medicine, nor points out every mistake of allopatic medicine just to support alternatives. It is a well balanced, evidence based book. Highly recomended

Comment: No Complaints- this is an awesome book, and best of all it is organized by disease. Thorough, unmatchable, and evidence based. Excellent foundation for CAM! Highly recommended for everyone who wants to practice holistic medicine.
