Summary: disorganized and anecdotal
Comment: This self congratulatory book makes Dr. Shinya sound like a miracle worker. I believe he is very good at colonoscocpies, but he does not back up any of his claims in this rambling book, with statistics. We just must take his word for it that none of his patients have any further problems once they follow his advice to eat certain foods, avoid certain foods, and chew each bite 35 times, etc.

Comment: You should take Dr. Shinya's advice because:

Dr. Shinya:
- Has never been sick for 45 years -- ever since he recovered from the flu when he was 19.
- ALL of his cancer patients have 0% recurrence rate.
- Throughout 45 years of his medical career, he has NEVER issued a death certificate
- Invented the use of a colonoscope to remove polyps from the colon without abdominal incisions
I have read the Chinese version of this book along with four other books that he wrote. Dr. Shinya gives a very detailed explanation of the "Shinya Diet", which composes of 50% whole grains, 30% vegetables and fruits, 5% soy products, and 15% animal products (mainly fish). He also insists on the importance of quality water, which can efficiently activate our enzymes, raise our metabolisms, and clease our bodies.

Comment: This book was written in an 'easy-to-understand' manner. The explanations (except two or three) made perfect sense to me and was a good motivation to change my eating habits. I was particularly interested in his concept of chewing food longer to produce more saliva. His explanation of organically-grown fruits and vegetables helped me understand that insect chemicals are not a requirement to have a good crop. It's not so much for the immediate effect on foods as that it kills the things in the soil needed for better taste and growth.
