Customer Rating: Summary: Great Book Comment: Great book, especially if you are new to the medical field.
Love the item, hate the confusion of Amazon delivery svc online.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ever heard of the new guidelines? Comment: I'm disapointed with this book, it's not quite what I expected.Allmost all cardiac emergencies are depicted with the old guidelines, that have been changed by the ILCOR in 2005.Treatment options are OK but there are many topics missing, could REALLY be better
Customer Rating: Summary: Read it Before your ICU Rotation Comment: ICU rotation can always be intimidating for residents, especially the first one. Most of us start searching for a source to read as anxiety builds up. Everybody suggests Marino's "The ICU Book", which is OK, but needs time and it is not well balanced. This small book is a great source. You can quickly read it and refresh your knowledge before starting your rotation. During the rotation, you will be able to quickly review the topic and make sure you are not missing anything. I would highly recommend it.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Life Saver...literally. Comment: My internship we had open ICU's...so virtually every night I was stuck caring for critical patients in one of the ICUs. As a transitional resident, I had no interest in reading the Marino ICU book (which was in need of some updating). This book has everything you need to survive and help you manage even very sick patients while on call at night. I carried this book and the Ferri book in my labcoat as references in addition to some others on my PDA. This book is very concise, and will update you in just a few minutes on most issues you may face in the ICU/critical care medicine setting. Highly recommend for transitional residents, especially for those who would have no need to purchase larger more comprehensive references such as those going into medicine or anesthesiology. For those going into Ophthalmology, Radiology, etc.. this book is perfect.
Customer Rating: Summary: very useful Comment: fits nicely into your lab coat. very handy for those 1-2 second glances when you need to confirm some issues in the ICU. Of course this isn't a textbook which will tell you everything but a very helpful guide to be carrying along as a med student or junior resident rotating in the icu or internal medicine rotation. good bang for your buck
