Summary: Great Alternative to an Expensive Heart Rate Monitor
Comment: I've wanted to do power analysis with my cycle training but can't justify spending the money to buy a heart rate monitor that logs heart rate data so I can download it onto my computer. I've used this logger from Oregon Scientific with my Oregon Scientific heart rate monitor and it has worked great. I then wrote a little program to convert it to an HRM file and it works great with my exercise/power analysis program. The data seems very accurate and I'm pleased with the results. It's nice that it synchs its clock to the PC every time I plug it in so I can synch it up with my power data.
I don't give it five stars because the clip that holds it to your belt or HR monitor strap is not very tight on my HR chest strap and it has fallen off once. I also wish it were water resistant for swimming.

Summary: Nice Item, Buyer beware with this company!
Comment: The heart rate logger is really a nice item. The company selling it is one you should avoid. Two sales and nothing nice to report. Stick to sellers like amazon, you are bound to be treated like a respected customer as opposed to how the micro-companies look past you and treat you like yesterdays trash if you have questions...

Summary: Stopped working
Comment: The logger stopped working correctly after a couple months. Kept indicating low battery even after I twice replaced (rather expensive!)CR2032 electronic disc-style battery. A great disappointment as it seemed to be a good deal and worked initially with accompanying software to upload my heart rate from exercise sessions and graph length and intensity of workout. Then it would only upload erratically (some days worked, others didn't record), finally the battery problem. Maybe that was why it was sold at such a discount!

Summary: Works just as advertised!
Comment: I have a cheap Polar HRM watch and strap (T31) and this little thing works great with it! I have been using it over a year. It is a 1.2" button that I clip to my collar and download the data after few days. I can wear it all day and it will maintain over a weeks worth of 18 hours per day data. You really must read the instructions carefully or you think it is not working! It takes a couple of seconds to sync-up with your chest strap. I just bought another one on sale for a back-up device.

but Oregon Scientific technical support is almost non-existent. On 2 occasions it took over a month to get an e-mail reply, and the answers were not helpful.

Summary: One star by default...
Comment: This Oregon Scientific Heart Rate Logger doesn't work for me as it is advertised to do. Ostensibly, it will read the heart rate as transmitted from a Polar heart rate monitor. It doesn't. I tried with my own Polar chest strap, and a Cateye as well. Then I tried 5 other Polar chest straps, and a Garmin just to be sure. This item didn't read any of them. Perhaps I got a bad one, and perhaps if I exchanged this one, I would be satisfied. However, several emails over the course of 2 weeks to Heart Rate Monitors USA have gone unanswered. Buyer beware. The product is suspect, and the customer service is...well, non-existent
